About me – a life devoted to art and nature

Shaped by the mountains, deeply connected to nature – this is my journey as an artist.

Hans Gisler – a life devoted to art and nature

Raised high above Lake Lucerne, in the small mountain village of Riemenstalden, my artistic work has been deeply shaped by the alpine world and the people of this region. The freedom of the mountains, their quiet strength and majestic beauty are reflected in my sculptures and paintings.

Climbing, as well as ski and mountain tours, are among my favourite pastimes. They continue to inspire me and sharpen my awareness of the natural world. This sense of freedom and deep connection to the mountains has shaped my work from the very beginning.

My craftsmanship even took me to New York, where I worked as a carpenter and sculptor on the interior of an exclusive apartment. From monumental sculptures carved from sequoia and cedar to intricate pieces crafted from fine woods and bronze, I create each work with the utmost precision.

Ephemeral art also plays a role in my creative practice: snow sculptures up to five metres high that briefly capture the beauty and energy of nature are yet another expression of my artistic vision.
